Babymama Jill Genio

I am a mom to a 12-month old baby girl. She’s extremely hyper, curious, and intelligent!

Before going back to work, I read the book “Work, Pump, Repeat” several times. I tried to “rehearse” by going to a mall for a few hours and pumping in the mall’s nursing room while doing some light work. Of course, the rehearsals were nothing like what I had to go through at the office!

Trying to schedule pumping sessions while juggling work is extremely challenging. Another challenge is lugging ALL that stuff to the office along with a laptop and baon. It gets a bit insane. But, by far, the biggest challenge is having to go to work the day after a night of dream feeds at all hours of the night.

While, my most memorable experience was spending the whole weekend working on a project. We were in a different office from my own. We were negotiating and working on closing a very big project for our client. Thankfully, the company’s offices we were working at gave me a room to pump in, where I pumped every three hours, on the dot. They also let me store my milk in their pantry fridge. I’ll never forget the feeling of accomplishment I had after!

Despite these challenges, I just grit my teeth and work through it! I also try not to work while pumping… okay, that’s a lie. I always end up reading and drafting emails while pumping!
