Babymama Charlene Ong

I am mom of Jeanne Charlize and she just turned 1 year old last June. I decided to breastfeed because the hospital where I gave birth and my pediatrician are both breastfeeding advocates.

I think the most memorable was the moment my daughter first latched on me. She was not able to latch on me instantly. She needed to be put on NPO because her abdomen is in an unusual size. When we tried to first feed her it started to increase in size. She seems to be bloated. A small tube was needed to be put on her so that she might be able to expel the suspected gas in her abdomen. She had undergone babygram, ultrasounds and different blood tests because her hemoglobin count is also dropping low.

It was only after she had undergone blood transfusion that we are able to establish a really good feeding and when she first latched it really seemed natural to her. The doctors and nurses inside the NICU were all amazed. During the time I cannot breastfeed her, I pumped my breast milk in the hospital.

The challenge in breastfeeding now is when she already started to have teeth. There would be times when she would be so gigil and bite my nipples.
